New Home Made Simple link--Organize in Style

This one is called Organize in Style. Go here to get yours!!

This booklet usually has the $1/1 Dawn Hand Renewal coupon. I use this coupon when CVS and/or Walgreens has their Dawn for .97-$1 to score free Dawn. This happens to be one of the very few things that I am brand loyal to, so I like to stock up.

Free audio books, and more, all without a coupon...

Do you have an MP3 player and do you like audio books, or like nice music even if it isn't by some main stream artist? Check out archive.org for a site chock full of free, public domain, downloadable media.

If you need a bit of aural stimulation, their Audio section has quite a few categories:

If you are more in the Moving Images scene (Video, movies, etc.), categories like Animation & Cartoons, Arts & Music, Community Video, Computers & Technology, Cultural & Academic Films, Ephemeral Films, Home Movies, Movies, News & Public Affairs, Prelinger Archives, Spirituality & Religion, Sports Videos, Videogame Videos, Vlogs, Youth Media, and Electronic Program Guide might be more your speed.

This is a huge site. They have electronic Texts in categories like American Libraries, Canadian Libraries, Universal Library, Community Texts, Project Gutenberg, Children's Library, Biodiversity Heritage Library, Additional Collections, Columbia International University

They even have free software, downloadable maps, etc...

Now, now, don't go all geek on me!

BIG Huggies Overnights for $10.13--SHIPPED!

I am extremely happy about this deal!!

We have used these diapers on both children and have never once had a problem with overnight leaks. When Olivia came along, I thought I'd try the Pampers Extra Protection (mostly because I had really good coupons for them), but they were awful. So, all that to say, "These diapers rock!"

When I was in the store today, I was going to pick some up. The size 5 package had 27 diapers in it. It cost 8.99. This deal gives you twice as many for only a dollar(ish) more AND it is delivered right to your door!

The size 5 diapers are the cheapest ones for this deal. The bigger diapers usually cost quite a bit more, so to find the larger diapers cheaper than the smaller ones was extra nice.

Here's what you do:
  • Go here
  • Choose your size.
  • On the right side of the page, you'll see a box that says, "Subscribe and Save." Click this box. You can choose the how often you receive the shipment. If you don't want to receive it after this first shipment, simply go to your Account and cancel the service. Since the price isn't locked in, I will probably cancel after my first shipment.
The shipping cost will come off after you subscribe.

YAY for cheap, fantastic diapers!

(Thanks, Common Sense with Money!)

How I Organize My Coupons

One of the questions that I get asked most often is, "How do you organize all of your coupons?"

I purchased a 3-ring binder that has a pocket in the front (Any 3-ring binder will work. It does not have the be a zippered one). I use the pocket to hold my store envelopes. Before I head to the stores, I put all of the coupons that I need for a specific store (like all the ones I plan to use at CVS) in its corresponding envelope. That way, when I'm in the store, I don't have to search for each coupon for each sale. I save a lot of time by doing this one little thing. I have envelopes for CVS, Walgreens, and Kroger. You can add others for the stores that you shop at most often.

I store all of my coupons in 9-pocket baseball card holders. I do have to
fold some of the coupons to make them fit, but it is worth that small bit of time. Since I switched from my accordian style coupon holder to this, I save a significant amount of time in the store. I simply flip a page and scan the coupons on that page instead of having to pull out a whole category to dig through them. As you can tell, I'm all about doing my couponing efficiently.

I divide my coupon book into many categories: Refrigerated, baking/spices,
frozen, condiments, meats, cans/jars, rice/pasta, snack foods, drinks, Body,
face, teeth, deodorant, razors, baby, household, and personal (think feminine products. I know that this is a lot of categories. After much trial and error, I find that it works best for me to have them divided this specifically. You can always start with what you think will work best and tweak it to fit your style. I use plastic tabs that stick to the pages for dividing.

In the back of my binder are 2 pencil pouches. In one, I keep gift cards and
store coupons. Stores like Lowe's, Penney's, Lane Bryant, various restaurants, etc. send their coupons on hard plastic or cardboard-like stuff, and they don't really fit into the pockets very well. That is why I put them in the pouch. The other pouch is for regular coupons that are oversized or made from cardboard.

I weed through my coupons weekly. This isn't as hard as it sounds. I simply
sit on the sofa while watching a TV show and flip through the book quickly.
Since you can see each coupon, it is a fairly easy job. Yes, there are some
that you will have to fold in such a way that makes seeing the expiration date
hard, and you'll have to pull those out. If you miss some, it's no big deal.
You'll notice it eventually. It is not unusual for me to find a stray one from
a month ago (or more!).

I hope that was helpful. If you have questions just leave a comment.

If this sounds like too much work, YES I will make them for you. I do have to charge for them because of the materials and all of the time that it takes to put the books together. I can guarantee you that this is worth every penny!! Just email me at kim.marie@att.net or leave a comment.

$3/1 Huggies coupon is back!!

1 Year Subscription to Woman's Day for $5!

Amazon has a 1 year subscription (15 issues) to Woman's Day magazine for only $5!! Go here to get yours.

I have a subscription to this magazine. I like it because of the fun recipes and because it has coupons in it!! I got my subscription for free with reward points from another company, but I am sure that the coupons would make the .33/month worth it!

HEY! Where's my insert?

You drive all the way to the store and pick up your newspapers. You come home and dig through them to find your precious little coupons. You pull them out excitedly and, wait, what's this? Your inserts are missing? Well, before you dissolve into a little puddle of disappointment, let me tell you what you can do in this situation.

This has happened to me once. What I did was call the newpaper's Customer Care line. I tell them what paper I purchased (Dallas Morning News double edition), what store I purchased it at, and which insert is missing.

For the Dallas Morning News, you'd call:
Customer Care Specialist: (214) 745-8383 or toll free (800) 925-1500.

(Special thanks to Stephanie for this post suggestion!)

Great Deal of Kraft at Kroger!

There is a new Kraft deal that starts at Kroger today. Buy 5 participating Kraft products, Save $5, and Donate 5 Meals for Feeding America. It starts today and goes through August 15. For every item purchased, Kraft will donate a meal to Feeding America. YAY for everyone!

This week, as part of the Mega Sale, Philadelphia Cream Cheese is .99. Purchase 5 and then receive $5 after you check out. Remember that to get the .99 deal from the mega sale, that you have to purchase 10 items. So, just make the cream cheese part of your 10 items!

  • 5 other items from the sale
  • Use (2) of the $1/2 coupons
This makes my Kraft items .30 each!!!! Yay for .30 cheese!!

Also included in the deal are:

What do you do with all of that overage? 7-16-2010

You buy household necessities that you don't usually get for free!

I am a bit crazy when it comes to toilet paper. I cannot stand the thought of running out of toilet paper. I know it's weird, but we'll just add that to my ever-expanding list. I can honestly say that we have never run out of toilet paper in my house.

Okay, enough of that rabbit trail. This week CVS was supposed to have Cottonelle B1G1 Free. However, they ran out. Apparently ALL CVSs ran out, so they substituted Scott instead. We are brand loyal to our toilet paper, and we were running low (read 6 rolls), so I decided to buy during this sale.

The sale is Buy One 12 roll Scott toilet paper @ $11.99, get one free. I know that I can get 24 rolls at Wal-Mart for $16.50, so this was a great deal:

  • Bought 2 packages Scott Toilet Paper
  • 1 Milky Way Caramel candy bar
  • Used the .50/1 Milky Way coupon that printed out of the CVS machine today. (gave the candy bar to the pleasantly surprised cashier)
  • Paid with $11 ECBs and $1.50 OOP!
Regular price: $18.82 I paid: $1.50

Great Savings on Paint at Wal-Mart

Lately, I have really been wanting to redecorate our room. We haven't done a thing to it since we moved here 8 years ago!

Part of my problem is that I am decoratively-challenged. The other part is that paint can be very expensive. I prefer to buy paint at a store that we'll call...uh...Werwin Shilliams. The problem is that their paint is VERY expensive. I prefer this paint because, since I hate to paint, I want to put it on the wall and have it stick the first time......no bubbling or peeling or any of that mess. So, I tend to shy away from cheaper paint.

So, I have noticed a rack in the back of the paint section at Wal-Mart several times. I always thought that it was where they stored the mess ups until they could dispose of them. When I walked past it today, I noticed that there were clearance stickers on it, but many didn't have prices. I asked the lady who worked in that section how much they were discounted. She said 50%!!

Apparently when someone picks a color and it doesn't come out quite how they wanted, the store doesn't want to lose that money, so they discount the "mistinted" paint.

So I got a $24 gallon of Dutch Boy paint for $9.98!!

Now, who wants to help paint?!

Barnes & Noble $1.99 Books + 5% Cash Back

Barnes & Noble is having a summer clearance sale with loads of books for $1.99! I am partial to children's books and cookbooks. Go here and see what you can find! I find it easiest to choose the category that I want to search in and then sort them by price. I have even found some children's books as low as $1.78!
You can also go through Shop At Home and earn another 5% back on your entire purchase. Simple type "Barnes & Noble" in the search box. Click on the store when it comes up. On the right hand side, there will be a green button that says "Shop Now." Click that. That's all. It will redirect you to the Barnes & Noble site and then shop as usual. (More on Shop At Home and Ebates later today)

I'm excited! This is a great way to stock up for all of those birthday parties and Christmas gifts!

Comment back and let us know what great deals you got!

Happy shopping!

Where do I get my coupons?

This is always one of the first questions people ask when they find out about my couponing adventures. They are often shocked by my answer--FROM THE NEWSPAPER! Really! I buy the double edition of the Dallas Morning News each Sunday. It costs me $5, but it is absolutely worth it. It usually pays for itself in the first week! No matter where you live, buy the paper that is from the largest city near you.

I have only in the past 3 weeks begun printing coupons. Before then, we had no computer that had Windows on it, and therefore I could not print coupons. I still did amazingly well with my shopping. I really don't feel like I was ever missing out on things. So, if you can't clip coupons, don't dispair! Think of all the money you'll save on ink!

That said, there are a couple of other places that I have used to get them:
  • eBay. I have only used eBay 4 times before. I purchased a couple of lots of coupons each time and then split them up with a friend. I ONLY did this because the coupons made for fantastic, FREE deals: 40 bottles of laundry soap FREE, 20 boxes Huggies wipes FREE, 15 bottles Softsoap FREE, 20 cans Pillsbury biscuits FREE.
  • Magazines. A lot of magazines have coupons in them. I know of 3 that I get that almost always have a few good coupons in them. I haven't paid for pasta in about 8 months since the Ronzoni $1/1 coupons have come out! Keep a look out!
I'm sure that there are other places that I will run across in the future. I'll add those as needed. Happy clipping!!

Johnson & Johnson coupon

Click here to print your coupons for $3/2 Johnson & Johnson Red Cross products (hit your back button print twice). CVS has the small first aid kits for .99. They are over with the travel sized soaps and such.

Buy 2, use this coupon, and get $1 in overage!

Benjamin likes having these. He once told me that he "wants to have 100 of them so that he can give them to the people who don't have homes because they probably have a lot of hurts."

$2/1 Smart Balance Milk Coupon

Go here to get yours!

I have gotten several of these coupons lately either in the paper or online. We really enjoy this milk. It is fat free, but doesn't taste like you just rinsed out your milk cup with water. Ugh!

If you use it at Kroger this week, it will make it .99! That is what I will do.

Goldfish Crackers Coupon .75/1!!!

Go here to print the new .75/1 Goldfish coupon. I'd do it ASAP since this coupon goes quickly.

You can either hold it until you find a good sale, or use it at Walgreens this week. I will probably take mine over to Walgreens. Livi loves these crackers!

Super 1 Deals

Well, Super 1 doesn't usually have a lot of stuff each week that is newsworthy, but there is a thing or two here and there. Here's what I saw in the paper:

Cantaloupe .98

Kellogg's Cereals, select varieties, 11.4 -20oz boxes $1.78

Pop Tarts .98

FREE Sample John Frieda Root Awakening

Go here to sign up for your free sample of John Frieda Root Awakening hair products. I love this shampoo. It leaves my head with that cool, tingling feeling. Ahhh!

In addition to getting a free sample, you will almost always receive a very good coupon with your samples

How to do Kroger

Our Kroger in Longview:
  • Triples coupons up to .39
  • Double coupons .40 to .50
  • Will only double or triple 3 like items. So, if you have (4) .35/1 coupons for an item, use 3 coupons in one transaction and then use the remaining one in another transaction.
  • Allows you to combine a manufacturer's coupon with a Kroger coupon (store coupon) for even greater savings.
  • Allows you to combine a manufacturer's coupon with an E-coupon (see below) for even greater savings.
  • Accepts internet printable coupons.

I am very sure that I have forgotten things or just forgotten how confusing this can be. If you have questions, please leave a comment and I will add your questions to this list.
